What Your Engagement Ring Says About You

Choosing an engagement ring is an exciting, but stressful, time. With so many options to choose from, committing to just one style is arguably harder than the other commitment you’re about to make and whilst diamonds may never go out of style, the type of cut you get very well might.

Of course, there are other factors to consider too, what’s your preference between VS and VVS diamonds? How many carats do you want? Have you thought about color? So much to think about.

When it comes to shape, it’s often unknown, but the one you end up choosing will say a lot about your personality. It’s been revealed that each shape has its own unique meaning, from the more traditional of us to those who have more of a wild side. There’s a shape for everyone.

Round Cut

Who doesn’t love a classic? Round cuts are by far the most popular. Representing eternal love, it’s no surprise that those who favour this shape tend to be more traditional and somewhat conservative. Do you not like change? This might be the ring for you.

Princess-Cut

Unsurprisingly, princess cuts are full of life, extravagance and demand attention. If you’re a fan of the spotlight, happy to be the leader, take risks and thrive the more attention you receive then this could be extremely fitting for you.

Emerald-Cut

Another choice for the more traditional of us. Emerald cuts are entirely elegant and open, representing an open heart and personal clarity. A perfect option for those with a good sense of self who don’t need or seek approval from others.

Oval-Cut

Incredibly similar to the round cut, but with a more creative flair. There are comparisons of the oval to that of an egg shape which has evoked themes of fertility and children. This is an excellent choice for the traditional woman who occasionally lets her wild side out to play.

Pear-Cut

Full of individuality, but still with a strong traditional mind; this ring is one for the trendsetters. Be sure to be aware of the comparison to that of a tear, though bear in mind that it could mean tears of joy, as well as sorrow. If you’re one for setting impossibly high standards, not only for yourself but for those around you, this might be the right fit for you.

Marquise-Cut

Potentially the cut with the most personality. This shape is specifically cut to create the illusion that the diamond’s bigger than it is. A strong choice for those preoccupied with wealth and status, potentially with a desire to appear extravagant at all times.

Asscher Cut

Who doesn’t love a bit of drama? Some of us more than others though and if you live for it then an Asscher Cut is the one for you. There’s also a fair amount of vintage and royalty to this one too.

Heart Ring Cut

Not a shape you’re bound to see every day, this is certainly a bold choice. The heart shape unsurprisingly represents romanticism at its strongest, but also has strong themes of fantasy and sentiment that could evoke a person who’s not all that connected with reality. If you keep your rose-colored shades on most of the time, then a heart ring diamond ring seems entirely fitting.
